Access New Jersey
Wins Hometown USA Video Award
Access New Jersey, the monthly cable video magazine, was the winner in the Magazine Format/Professional Producer category of the national 2001 Hometown USA Video Festival.
The Hometown USA Video Festival is an annual event run by The Alliance for Community Media. This year nearly 1,700 entries were received in all the categories from stations throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The award ceremony
was held in Washington D.C. on July 12.
Access New Jersey is produced monthly by The Jersey Access Group (JAG), a consortium of community run television stations that act as a forum for promoting quality operations for New Jersey's public, educational and government (PEG) television stations.
Each episode of "Access New Jersey" is comprised of four, six minute segments; each produced by a different community's JAG station. Stories highlight people, places and things of interest to the residents of New Jersey. Access New Jersey is aired throughout the state on JAG member cable stations reaching more then half a million households.
The winning entry was edited by Piscataway Community TV and contained stories about:
• A Civil War reenactment produced by Woodbridge TV
• An archeological dig produced by Piscataway Community TV
• Metuchen in Motion (a 5K Run, a Dog Walk &a Car Show) produced by Metuchen TV
• A visit to a Halloween Haunted House that raises money for charity produced by South Brunswick TV
